Meet Britt Smith

Born and raised in Silicon Valley, Smith graduated from Gilroy High School where clasmates voted her “Most Likely to Change the World.”

While earning her undergraduate degree at University of California, Santa Cruz, Smith began organizing on campus, statewide with the UC Student Association, and nationally with the United States Student Association where she was elected to co-chair of the Women’s Caucus. While advocating for accessible higher education, she led non-partisan voter registration drives and lobbied her elected officials in Sacramento and Washington D.C.

From California Smith moved to Philadelphia to pursuit a career in creative marketing with Urban Outfitters, where she became involved with Women’s Way and served as the organization’s events committee co-chair. Upon returning to California, she produced “Human Heroes,” a video series highlighting women making change throughout the Bay Area with Everlane.

In late 2025 Smith moved back to Gilroy. Recognizing the gap between City Hall and public awareness of local developments, in January 2026 Smith founded Gilroy Community Action, a grassroots organization that advocates for residents’ wellbeing today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
